The Alliance will co-host a lecture as part of PSU’s Tour the World at Home series, on “Women in Contemporary France” by Emilie Bonnet, Instructor at Université d’Avignon et Pays de Vaucluse, France.
The lecture is in English and free to the public. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, July 31, 6:00-7:00pm, in the Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 238.
Women in France are multi-faceted and have played a major role in the history of the country. We shall look at the different faces of French women throughout history for context, but will focus on the 20th century women’s liberation movement and the situation of French women today. Are French women really emancipated? Are they still making progress or are they going backwards? Where do we go from here?
