Baba Wagué Diakité – Stories from Mali

On Friday, November 8, 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm, the Alliance will offer a storytelling session with Baba Wagué Diakité, an artist, storyteller and published author.

Wagué was born in Mali in French-speaking West Africa and now splits his time between Portland and his homeland. He is an Honor recipient of the Coretta Scott King Award. Click here to see his some of his books at Amazon.

As a storyteller his mission is to promote this Malian art form in the U.S., sharing the oral histories of djelibaw and traditional folktales.

The storytelling session, including discussion of his childhood in Mali, is suitable for audiences of all ages and will be both French and English; French fluency is not required.

Ticket prices are just $5 for Alliance members and $4 for children (holders of Family Memberships can bring their children for free). Non-members’ tickets are $9 for adults and $4 for children.
